Pune City Connect works with Marathi medium Municipal Schools of Pune City. Children who come to these schools are from vulnerable and marginalized families and experience conditions of adversity on a day to day basis. They need a different approach to their education. Thus, our work is centered on enabling well-being, identity, self-image, a sense of belonging, and empowerment for children and teachers.

To demonstrate a replicable & sustainable model of in-service teacher development to increase the quality of student learning in urban public schools.

Providing in-service support to teachers by creating an exclusive cadre of teacher-mentors known as “Shikshak Sahyogis”.

PMC Support
Though implemented by Pune City Connect, the project is wholly owned by the Education Department of PMC. PMC has provided support with co-creation of the project design, provision of the Sahyogis, training centers, policy changes, and approvals/ permissions as required. The Corporation has also allocated 15 PMC schools to be transformed into ‘Model of Excellence’ Schools and is incurring the capital expenditure required to improve the infrastructure in each school.
